The last testing date to qualify for TOPS for the 2026-2027 school year without a penalty is April 11, 2026.

The ACT is a national standardized test that tests your understanding of Math, Reading, English, and Science skills. You will need to take the test if you plan to receive the TOPS scholarship. Also, many colleges and universities use these scores for admissions, scholarships, and class placement. Contact your specific college/university for their requirements.
We recommend taking the ACT for the first time the spring of your 10th grade year.
MBA is not an approved ACT testing facility. Also, we do not provide waivers for the test, but you can apply for one online. You and your parent will need to create and ACT account using the link below. You will sign up as a homeschool student. When you register for the test, you are then given options for the available testing facilities on that specific day.
The test is currently $68 but that is subject to change. ACT can provide accommodations, but parents must make that request in the app and provide all of the require documentation. Please pay attention to the deadline because it must be submitted and approved by ACT prior to testing.
When you sign up for the ACT test, you can request copies be sent to certain institutions. First, send a copy of your scores to LOSFA. Their ACT code is 1595. If you plan to take dual enrollment in the future, we suggest sending a copy to NSU (1600) or BPCC (1573). Also, send your scores to the college you plan to attend after graduation or ones that you are going to apply to. You will be able to search for the college codes when you register.
Studying and taking practice tests are the best way to prepare for the ACT. Your local library often has ACT prep books you can check out for free. You can also purchase prep books. ACT.org also has free prep resources.
ACT scores will vary from student to student. A few notable scores are:
